The Shift of the Tide by Jeffe Kennedy – Review by Layna

35516005Title: The Shift of the Tide

The Uncharted Realms #3

Author: Jeffe Kennedy

Synopsis:

A QUICKSILVER HEART

Released from the grip of a tyrant, the Twelve Kingdoms have thrown all that touch them into chaos. As the borders open, new enemies emerge to vie for their hard-won power—and old deceptions crumble under the strain…

The most talented shapeshifter of her generation, Zynda has one love in her life: freedom. The open air above her, the water before her, the sun on her skin or wings or fur—their sensual glories more than make up for her loneliness. She serves the High Queen’s company well, but she can’t trust her allies with her secrets, or the secrets of her people. Best that she should keep her distance, alone.

Except wherever she escapes, Marskal, the Queen’s quiet lieutenant, seems to find her. Solid, stubborn, and disciplined, he’s no more fluid than rock. Yet he knows what she likes, what thrills and unnerves her, when she’s hiding something. His lithe warrior’s body promises pleasure she has gone too long without. But no matter how careful, how tender, how incendiary he is, only Zynda can know the sacrifice she must make for her people’s future—and the time is drawing near…

Review:

The Shift of the Tide is part of The Uncharted Realms series. I have not read any other in the series so I was a little lost at first. Once you get into the story though, you are easily immersed and you find that you don’t even need to read the other books in the series to enjoy this story. This book pulled me from the reading rut I was in and reminded me why reading is so great! This book in unlike any other romance novels I have read lately. Jeffe Kennedy writes in such a way that you get a very good image of what this world she has created is supposed to look like. This is easily one of my favorite works of her and it is a series that I want to read the rest of. This gave me a taste of the amazing world she created and now I am hungry for more.

The Uncharted Realms series is more than just your typical romance novels. It is jammed packed with a fantasy world. There is action and adventure at every turn. The Shift in the Tide is a book I was able to enjoy from start to finish. It was new and exciting to be a part of this world. I loved the main characters Zynda and Marskal. Zynda is a strong, fierce and wild woman with amazing powers. She goes through such struggle to save her people, meanwhile sacrificing everything.

I highly recommend this book for those who love adventure in a fantasy setting. I’m so glad I read this book. Like I said, it a series that I will continue to read. I can’t wait to read and discover more about this enchanting world that Jeffe Kennedy created. This is just another great read from her!
