Title: Lake Town
Author: Jane Redd
Jezebel James is on the run after her true abilities are discovered by the Legislature, and the only one who can protect her is Sol. In order to survive, Sol sends her into an underground hideout where she quickly discovers all that she thought was true in her dying world is false. Jez reunites with Rueben and his band of insurgents, and together they escape to Lake Town, only to find that the entire island is preparing to invade the City.
But Sol has been left behind and forced to join the ranks of the Faction, who are working against the Legislature from within. As Jez works with the insurgents and their plan to destroy the City, she learns that attacking the City might save thousands of lives, but it will destroy Sol, the man she knows she can’t live without.

Lake Town is the second in the Solstice series and gives us the POV from both Jez and Sol. I really enjoyed reading this. It kept me on the edge of my seat. Each chapter ends in a cliffhanger and you have no choice but to continue to read in order to find out what happens.
It’s a thrilling read and will leave you holding your breath, hoping for the best. This isn’t your typical YA dystopian novel, it’s so much more than that. Jez is such a strong female lead, even with her being so young. She knows she is the only carrier and although she is scared of what the future might hold, she moves past that fear in order to help the world. She builds friendships and allies along the way. Although her and Sol have been separated for months, they both hold out hope that the other is alive and well.
This story is packed with action! I highly recommend this book to those looking for a great read. If you love dystopian young adult novels, then this is for you! I can not wait until the next book comes out because I need to know how this all plays out!
