Passion of a Witch
Author: K.D. Friedrich
Genre: Paranormal Romance
In a few weeks, Summer Leery will be mated. For most witches, it’s a time to celebrate, but Summer isn’t smiling. Her upcoming union is one of convenience, not love, contracted between her family and one of the most powerful families in the coven. As always, Summer’s loyalty remains with her kin and the traditions she’s expected to follow. No matter how much she detests her future husband. With her parents off to secure her nuptials, Summer is eager to enjoy her last moments of freedom.
Kian Lancaster’s relationship with his father is volatile. So finding himself at the bastard’s mercy is the last place Kian wants to be. Unfortunately, he has no choice. His mother is suffering from an unknown illness and needs constant care. Care that costs money. Money Kian doesn’t have. With little options, he lets his father pay his mother’s mounting medical bills, knowing the offer comes with a heavy price. Kian must work for his father’s ruthless company. Looking to forget his bleak future, he plans a nostalgic night of liquor and fun in the local woods. Unaware his destiny lurks in the shadows of towering pine.
Summer is shocked to find a human trespassing on her family’s land. More surprising is that the Goddess to all witches demands Summer welcome the cursed intruder. Summer has no time to waste playing host to a foolish human. No matter how handsome. With her wedding weeks away, Kian’s a temptation she can’t afford to entertain. But when her deity makes a decree to bring the male into the supernatural world… what’s a witch to do?
Kian’s about to find out. For the first time in his life, a woman didn’t fall to her knees to please him. Summer’s apathy shackled his lust and refused to let go. Kian knows he should stay away from Summer, but when it comes to this woman, he can’t get enough.
Their attraction is instant, their desire intense. Two hearts forced together by the will of a Goddess. Is Summer strong enough to resist Kian’s charm? Or will she risk it all to taste the power of love?
I was excited to read Passion of a Witch after I read the synopsis, which immediately gained my attention. Having such high hopes for this book, I am happy to say that it exceeded all expectations. Passion of a Witch has easily become one of my favorite reads. It was magical, erotic, romantic and adventurous.
Summer is a young witch who lives in the woods with her family. She just so happens to be betrothed to another witch, in hopes of keeping her family’s bloodline pure. Her house is vandalized by drunk humans and this is how she chances upon Kian. After spending time together, they try to deny their attraction. Their denial does not stop the sparks that fly when they are close to one another. Summer is torn between doing what is best for her family or finally going for what her heart craves.
This book is hot! It’s definitely meant for those 18 years of age and up. The tension and suspense between Summer and Kian was practically unbearable and practically palpable. I couldn’t stop reading, the characters actions continued to draw my attention. I could not put Passion of a Witch down for the life of me! I highly recommend this book for lovers of paranormal and erotic romance. I feel like I could go on and on all day about how much I loved this book, but for now, I’ll just say that this is a must read for the new year!

“Why are you so scared?” Even with lust surging through his veins, the need to show her gentleness overcame him. His hands lifted to her face and cupped her cheeks. The pads of his thumbs stroked the softness of her skin.
She sighed and leaned into his palm. “I’m not,” she whispered as her eyes closed. “I fear nothing.”
He smiled. “Then why are you trembling?” As he drew a line over her bottom lip, her tongue darted out to taste the tip of his thumb. His cock jerked at the contact.
He was a bastard to find satisfaction in her reaction, but her heated response made his chest expand and a smug grin tug at his lips. He drew her closer. Her sexy gasp assured Kian she wasn’t immune to his presence.
Amazed at his reaction to her, he gazed into her eyes. How did the mere brush of a woman’s skin possess so much power over him?
At this moment, he’d do whatever she asked just to keep himself connected to her. To move his hand lower, he’d fall to his knees and crawl across hell.
The temptation made him ache. It made him want things he had no right to desire. He didn’t do relationships. Oh, he made sure a woman found pleasure, but no matter how far she dug, she’d find nothing more. He never whispered sweet words or shouted promises of forever. Summer deserved more, but the truth did little to stop the intense drive clawing at his insides to lay her delectable body on the moist grass and fuck her until the only sound to leave her lips was his name.
Given the chance, he knew what he’d do first. He’d slide his palm between her full breasts, along the contours of her rounded belly, and lower still until his fingers brushed her hot, wet pussy.
“No!” She slipped free of his grasp. He let her go. “We can’t. I… you… you need to leave.”
Walk away? Not a damn chance.
A drop of perspiration disappeared behind her low collar, drawing his attention to the sheen forming across her chest. He bet her sweet pussy wept for him, drenched with need and soaked in the delectable scent of her sexy, feminine desire. He licked his lips, almost tasting her there. He swallowed back the lump now formed in his dry throat, eager for her sweet nectar to satisfy his hunger. His gaze lifted to find her perfect mouth parted, inviting him, offering him an undeniable dare.
She stroked the side of her throat, caressing the spot where his lips had brushed. The memory of his sweet kiss lingered. Turning her face toward her shoulder, she caught his scent on her skin. The spicy, masculine musk clung to her clothes and settled on her thick head of curls, branding her as his.
A simple taste of his lips to satisfy her lust, what would it hurt?
Was she considering betraying her promised male, her people, and her family for a single moment of pleasure?
I don’t know.
She banged her fist against the counter, furious at herself for even contemplating such a disgraceful act. Shame and confusion weighed heavy on her soul. She hung her head.
“You okay in there?” Kian called out.
His sudden question derailed her train of thought.
She froze, praying he didn’t pop his head in the kitchen. Kian’s presence had a way of filling a room, leaving little opportunities for composure. In the short time she’d known him, he’d become her weakness. Putting some distance between her and his enthralling eyes and tempting lips would give her time to sort through the intense sensations and new desires rising within her.
She glanced over her shoulder. “Yes, I’m fine.”
To her shock, she presented a level, almost carefree response, considering the storm of emotions battering her spirit.
The second the chatter and laughter rose to its previous level, Summer sighed in relief.
She knew what the Goddess decreed. Nothing would make her betray her promise to her deity, but she needed to set some ground rules of her own. Friendship did not require lust. No more casual touching. No more flirty glances. No more added temptation. Platonic friendship would be her mantra from now on.
Summer flashed a smile
I will not betray my coven for anyone. Not even you, Kian Lancaster.
Lost in the arousal building within her, she hadn’t seen him move closer, but all of a sudden his lips were an inch away, hovering before her. The temptation was an irresistible torment, forcing reason to battle against desire. Another man owned her future. Duty had taken away her choice. Being with Kian beneath the soft moonlight of the grove insulted the values of her people, her family, and herself.
She couldn’t do this.
The sudden burst of common sense forced her hands to press against his chest. His fingers speared through her wet curls, holding her to him, making her a prisoner to his lure.
Beneath her palms, his muscles flexed. The heat of his body seared her objection, setting her denial aflame. She melted into him. When their gazes locked, she trembled. Hidden in his eyes, she found a promise, a solemn oath that no matter what she did, where she went, or what lies she told, he would never let her go.
His hand pulled free from her hair and roamed along her throat, across the top of her chest, and closed over her breast. Her head fell back at the contact. He worked his fingers into a tender massage, kneading her sensitive flesh, rolling her sensitive nipple.
Her whispered name was the final warning before he captured her lips.
Tender, yet demanding, his mouth moved over hers. Sweet traces of the soda he drank with dinner remained on his lips. A sudden tender rush of power crashed over her skin, drawing a startled moan of pleasure from her. Urged by this erotic charge, she yanked him closer, bringing her chest flush to his. Still, she wasn’t close enough.
The heavy thuds of his heart mirrored her racing pulse.
She was falling, but how, when he held her so tight?
He walked her into the smooth, moss-covered stone behind them, the impact lessened by the cage of his thick, strong arms. Against those cool, wet rocks, he plundered her mouth, captivating her soul with a simple kiss.
No, not a simple kiss, a complex, exigent, dominating caress meant to claim every part of her.
