An Unexpected Joy by Susan Halter – Review by Layna

An Unexpected Joy

Treasured Dreams #6

Susan Hatler

AN UNEXPECTED JOY is a super short and sweet contemporary romance short story (22 pages, 4900 words).
Holly and Dave have put an offer on their dream house, and they’re in for an unexpected joy.

Here we are, a year or so into Holly and Dave’s marriage. They have taken on a new adventure together: buying a house. Dave is stressed and rightfully so. They decide to take a hike together, something they do often. During their hike, Holly has to find the right time to tell Dave the good news. Although she keeps getting interrupted, she is finally able to gain Dave’s attention, telling him all about her new line of jewelry. Dave and Holly may have lost their dream house, but they got something so much better instead.

I personally, have never visited Montana, but Susan paints a beautiful and descriptive picture of it. Reading the Treasured Dreams short stories always make me want to take a hike or at the very least, go out and spend time with nature. This is a very quick and clean read. It gives the readers just the right amount of sweetness with few words. I’m looking forward to reading the last chapter in the Treasured Dreams collection!
